Here are some interior painting tips to consider:

Before any interior painting begins, it’s important to consider different types of paint finishes. High-gloss paint, for example, is extremely durable and easy to clean. If your wall contains imperfections, however, this type of paint is known to enhance the imperfection, so a flat paint may be a better option.
Light colours work anywhere, but dark colours require rooms with lots of windows and natural light.

A real “cookbook” way to make any space look good without much risk, says designer Mark McCauley, is to use darker colour values for the floor, medium colour values for the walls and light values for the ceiling.
Start with the Formal Areas of the House, specifically the living room, dining room and entry way. Choose a colour scheme for those areas first, then pull one colour from the scheme. For example, take a red sofa and tone it down (say, to burgundy) for an accent in more private spaces such as the den, office or bedroom.

Colour Harmony: Divide your palette into three parts – 60% dominant colour (walls), 30% secondary colour (upholstery), and 10% accent colour (accessories). Achieve balance and visual interest effortlessly.
Make Small Spaces Pop. Skip the white paint trick for tiny rooms. Opt for vibrant colours to make a statement. Let big rooms breathe with light while small spaces offer cozy comfort.
